UPDATE: I no longer keep this site updated. However, the contact information for ongoing aid services are still good, so it is still useful for those looking to help. Remember that even though the storm happened many months ago, people still need your help.
My regular blogsite, Stingray: a blog for salty Christians, is going strong and I would appreciate your readership. So what exactly is a salty Christian? A salty Christian is a follower of God who strives to flavor the world that they live in just as salt flavors food. Jesus, in fact, told us that we are to be the salt of the earth. It's not an option.
13 “You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people's feet. 14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. (Matthew 5:13-16

This is a time of great need for our country and a time for America to rise to her greatness. We lift our hearts and prayers to our sister states of Alabama, Louisiana, and Mississippi.
My purpose is to create a clearinghouse for any sort of disaster relief effort in Texas. Why Texas? Because the state with the greatest loss of life and property, Louisiana, is our neighbor to the east and because God has richly blessed Texas with the resources to help others. So many of the Hurricane Katrina disaster victims are coming to Texas, from the 2 brothers of the Vietnamese immigrant lady who cuts my hair, to the 250 people housed in the hotel next to my employer's office, to the thousands of people in the Astrodome.
This is a site where you can search for aid if you are in need and a site where you can help Texans help our neighbors. I have divided the site into natural divisions that are accessible by the Category section on the sidebar to the right. The search system is pretty self-explanatory. If you are searching for disaster relief efforts in, say, Angleton, you can type "Angleton" (without the quotation marks) into the Search box, press the ENTER key, and all of the disaster relief sites in Angleton, Texas will appear.
Thanks to my wonderful wife, Eva, for her support and selfless devotion. She is down at Reunion Center volunteering in the relief effort as I write this. Thanks also to Michelle Malkin for the idea for this site and to Hugh Hewitt, Glenn Reynolds (Instapundit), and NZBear for last week's blog-a-thon, which was the initial inspiration for me to do something.
My name is Michael McCullough and Eva and I live in Garland, Texas. I run the Stingray blog, which is a commentary on life and current events from a Christian persective. This website, however, is neither red state nor blue state — it's all about how we can come together and help one another during this time of tragedy. I am creating links to help without regard to any political or social orientation.
I hope that this site proves useful. If you have any suggestions as to how I can improve things or if you know of a disaster relief effort that I have missed, please leave me a comment.
