Highland Park United Methodist Church

Highland Park UMC is committed to raise $1 million in aid and one million pounds of food in partnership with the North Texas Food Bank to provide direct relief to victims of hurricane Katrina. On Sunday Mark Craig, Senior pastor, quadrupled the initial pledge of $250,000 after directing $100,000 as the first step to launch the church's response to the victims of the hurricane.

In addition the church has opened its doors to serve as a designated distribution center for donated relief goods and supplies at the Biggers Building, 5817 Hillcrest.

  • As of 9/7/05 over 350 families have been served
  • Over 3000 Health Kits have been assembled, donated and delivered to Salvation Army.

Please Pray:
Merciful and compassionate God, hear our prayers for all people affected by Hurricane Katrina.
Strengthen those who cling to life; keep their hope and hearts alive;
Revive the weary rescue workers and tired medical teams, renew the resolve of those who have lost everything.
Quicken all efforts to rush resources and aid, send our people to help;
Open our hearts to give and give again that we may be generous bearers of healing and help.
God of all people, open our hearts to receive new neighbors, to make new friends, to embrace new opportunities to know Your presence.
Lord God, Pour out your Spirit of mercy and compassion.
In Your Name we pray.  AMEN.
