George Clooney proud to be a liberal
George Clooney writes at The Huffington Post that he’s proud to be a liberal, gosh darn it! You know why? Because he’s such a brave, brave man and, these days, you have to be brave to proclaim yourself a liberal because us mean old conservatives are trying to suppress freedom of speech. George whines:
Too many people run away from the label. They whisper it like you’d whisper “I’m a Nazi.” Like it’s dirty word. But turn away from saying “I’m a liberal” and it’s like you’re turning away from saying that blacks should be allowed to sit in the front of the bus, that women should be able to vote and get paid the same as a man, that McCarthy was wrong, that Vietnam was a mistake. And that Saddam Hussein had no ties to al-Qaeda and had nothing to do with 9/11.
…
Bottom line: it’s not merely our right to question our government, it’s our duty. Whatever the consequences. We can’t demand freedom of speech then turn around and say, But please don’t say bad things about us. You gotta be a grown up and take your hits.
Poor suffering George. He gets television air time, newspaper time, time at the Oscar ceremony, and time at any number of blogs to whine about how oppressed he is.
In a related post from La Shawn Barber, she notes that Congressional Republicans are supporting free speech for bloggers while Democrats want to regulate the political free speech of bloggers over the internet. Go figure. Who’s really for free speech and who isn’t?
Hey, George — if you really want to know what oppression is, move to Saudi Arabia or China and try to start a Bible study.

You really nailed it! George makes a bad movie about how awful the CIA (and the USA is) and now he is crying because some of us disagree with him. Poor baby!
