Two West Virginia Democrat officials sentenced for voter fraud
by Michael McCullough at 1:33 AM
Two Democrat officials were sentenced yesterday for voter fraud in West Virginia. From the Charleston Gazette:
Two major Lincoln County politicos guilty of election fraud will report to prison June 9, U.S. District Judge John Copenhaver Jr. ordered Tuesday.
Gregory Brent Stowers, who has already resigned as Lincoln County circuit clerk and from the state Democratic Party’s executive committee, and former Democratic county assessor Jerry Weaver were given jail terms by Copenhaver, despite prosecutors requesting only home confinement for Stowers.
Weaver received a one-year sentence, while Stowers got six months.
The interesting thing is that the story that is most widely circulated does not even mention that the pair were Democrats — what a surprise! Here’s the story as written by Nicky Walters, a reporter who works for WOWK TV in Charleston, West Virginia:
The final two defendants in a Lincoln County vote-buying case learned their fate Tuesday from a Federal Judge.
Former Lincoln County Circuit Clerk Greg Stowers was sentenced to six months in a federal prison and one year of supervised release for his role in the vote-buying scheme.
Former Lincoln County Assessor Jerry Weaver was sentenced to one year in a federal prison and three years of supervised release.
The pair are the last of six people who pleaded guilty back in December to buying votes in Lincoln County.
Not one mention that this was a voter fraud scheme perpetrated by high-ranking West Virginia Democrat officials!
I wrote Nicky earlier this evening and asked her why she didn’t mention that the voter fraudsters were Democrats. You can write her, too, at nwalters@wowktv.com.
