Whoda’ thunkit?
The AP is reporting that the Colorado church gunman “hated Christians.” From the Houston Chronicle:
The deadly shooting sprees at a megachurch and a missionary training school were believed to have been carried out by the same person — a 24-year-old suburban Denver man who “hated Christians,” a law enforcement official told The Associated Press.
The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly about the investigation, identified the gunman as Matthew Murray, the son of a distinguished neurologist who is a prominent researcher on multiple sclerosis.
Five people — including a gunman — were killed, and five others wounded Sunday in the two baffling eruptions of violence 12 hours and 65 miles apart.
Will there be outrage in the media?
Will network talk shows talk for weeks on Christian-hating in America?
Will any Hollywood stars speak out on Christian-haters?
Will the Dixie Chicks write a song about Christian-haters?
Do gun-free zones really protect people?
Is it Bush’s fault?
How would the mainstream media respond if someone shot people in an American mosque?
Update 12/10/2007 5:05 PM CST: AP reports:
The gunman believed to have killed four people at a megachurch and a missionary training school had been thrown out of the school about three years ago and had been sending hate mail to the program, police said in court papers Monday.
The gunman was identified as Matthew Murray, 24, who was home-schooled by his family and raised in what a friend said was a deeply religious Christian household. Murray’s father is a neurologist and a prominent multiple-sclerosis researcher.

Brady Boyd, pastor of the church commented “There is no sense to it.” Hmmmmm! Has Brady Boyd forgotten that “God is in sovereign control of everything?” And,as Mr. Boyd and Charles Stanley so frequently remind us, has Mr. Boyd forgotten Romans 8:28? “All things work together for good for those who love the Lord and are called according to His purposes.” The Bible also states “Psalm 116:15
Precious (important and no light matter) in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints (His loving ones). (Amp.) According to Charles Stanley the family of the girls should be praying “I know that I don’t understand what has happened Lord…And even though it hurts… .Please teach me what You want me to learn from this. Then rest in the assurance that our loving Heavenly Father knows exactly where you are and knows exactly how it hurts. He knows what’s best for us and will never allow us to go through a second more pain than what He chooses us to bare. He loves us, and the pain is all for our very very best!” What’s the big deal? These were Christians who sang “I know where I’m going, and I know who’s going with me.” What’s the big deal? If these people practice what they preach they will be happy. Their loved ones are home with the Lord and they will see them again soon in the after life… . .As they always remind us about.
gdp,
Are you being super pious, silly or stupid?
Unless you have been the Pastor’s shoes in that situation or a similar one, you have no idea what he is dealing with and why he would say there is no sense to it.
Humanly speaking, there is no sense to it. The Pastor was reacting as a human and as such, there is no sense to what happened. He is aware of the scriptures you pointed out. He knows that God is in control. He also knows that what God allows to happen is sometime beyond our understanding. He knows that in time we may see the good that will come out of it. He also knows that we may not know in this life, but have to wait until heaven to see what good God will accomplish with this terrible incident.
Yes, they will see their loved ones again. Grief is natural. There is nothing wrong with it. There is nothing unchristian about it either. If you were as familiar with scripture as you are trying to let on you would have remembered, “Jesus wept”.
Instead of finding fault with the good folks who are suffering, you would do well learn their lessons instead of trying to kick them while they are down. Learn what the scriptures are trying to teach instead of just the words. Let them help you.
I pray that you see the error of your way before it is too late for you.
