According to the Archbishop of Canterbury.
From ThisLondon.Co.UK:
The Archbishop of Canterbury has today said that the adoption of Islamic Sharia law in the UK is "unavoidable" and that it would help maintain social cohesion.
First, it is not unavoidable. Second, having a separate legal system for one group and another legal system for everyone else is not cohesive. It would encourage division. Imagine that you're a teenage Muslim girl and you're accused of adultery. Would you want Sharia law or British law to settle the dispute?
Rowan Williams told BBC Radio 4's World At One that the UK has to "face up to the fact" that some of its citizens do not relate to the British legal system.
There are a lot of people in the United States who don't relate to the American legal system. We call them criminals.
He says Muslims should not have to choose between "the stark alternatives of cultural loyalty or state loyalty".
Why single out a specific group. What if I start a Cult of Michael, claim it is a church, and then claim that my cultural tradition is robbing banks and that any arrests by police must be handled by the Court of Michael in order to respect my traditions?
Archbishop Williams has said some wacky things before, but he is obviously addled and confused.
He said it would also require a change in perception of what Sharia involved beyond the "inhumanity" of extreme punishments and attitudes to women seen in some Islamic states.
A change in perception about Sharia law? Ask the two sisters in Iran who face death by stoning for "adultery" about their perception of Sharia law. Forget Iran, conjure up the spirits of the two sisters in a Dallas suburb who were recently shot to death by their father in an "honor killing."
Having countries within countries is a bad idea that will fail miserably.

This is such a bad idea. If the British government starts making and applying different laws for different groups, what is next? Three-month sentences for dishonor killings?
