Che Guevara was a brutal Marxist killer responsible for the deaths of thousands of Cubans as well as many others throughout Central and South America. Yet he is still celebrated by the left as a cultural icon. T-shirts with Guevara’s picture are proudly displayed in Texas by street-market vendors, though not so much in mainstream T-shirt stores. I was only mildly surprised in a recent visit to the downtown Mercado (market) in San Antonio to see hundreds of Guevara shirts for sale in dozens of colors and designs.
From the Lone Star Times, courtesy of FOX News, we have a picture and video of a Houston office set up by Obama supporters that has a flag on the wall picturing Guevara.
For the sake of accuracy, note that the office is not an official Obama headquarters site, but is rather merely an office set up by Obama volunteers.
A distinction without a difference? If I were Obama, I would be on the phone quick to shut the office down.
Can you imagine the press this would have received if Bush volunteers had set up an office in 2000 with a Nazi flag on the wall? It would have been the lead story on every network and newspaper. Pundits and reporters — not that there’s much difference these days — would have proclaimed a definitive connection between Bush and Hitler and kept the story alive for months
Not that Obama has to worry. Barack Obama is decidedly leftist and is not a conservative, which means that the press gives him a free pass.
I fear for our country.

Leftist symbolism, such as that evident in the display of Che Guevara propaganda, seems to be important to the Barack Obama campaign. Four months ago, I pointed out another example of it in a post, Photo on Obama Web Site Raises Questions. In that post, I questioned the subliminal message the liberal Democrat hoped to convey by posting on his campaign website a photo of Obama sitting in front of a framed photo of Muhammad Ali standing over a knocked-down opponent in a boxing ring. Oh, the symbolism!
