Chris Matthews from MSNC admits that he gets a special feeling watching Obama speak. From Newsbusters:
I have to tell you, you know, it's part of reporting this case, this election, the feeling most people get when they hear Barack Obama's speech. My, I felt this thrill going up my leg. I mean, I don't have that too often. No, seriously. It's a dramatic event. He speaks about America in a way that has nothing to do with politics. It has to do with the feeling we have about our country. And that is an objective assessment.
Chrissy, your private life is your own, but some things are just not meant to be shared.
Aside from the instantly famous phrase about a special feeling in his leg, note how Matthews goes on and on about feelings. Obama is an extremely talented speaker. But he talks little about specifics, and the specifics that he does talk about are pretty scary. Obama is mostly about feelings and the ability to deliver a feel-good speech. The last president who mostly talked about feelings was Bill Clinton. Now, I don't believe that Obama is the crook that Clinton is, but the presidency involves hard decisions based on facts, not feelings.
Talking about good vibrations may gain you the presidency, Obama, but it is a guarantee for a disastrous presidency.
