Michelle is calling on bloggers to show solidarity with the Danish cartoonists who dared to criticize Islam. This week, five jihadists were accused of plotting to murder one of the Danish cartoonists, so it’s time to once again demonstrate solidarity with freedom of speech. From The Times:
Heavily-armed Danish police today arrested five men alleged to have been planning to murder one of the cartoonists behind the controversial images of the Prophet Mohammed that caused uproar in the Islamic world.
Westergaard’s cartoon, which was reprinted by Jyllands-Posten today, was seen at the time as the most controversial, as it depicted the prophet with a bomb in his turban.
“The security service has not wanted to run any risks and chose to act at a very early stage,” Jacob Scharf, Denmark’s police intelligence service chief, said.
“Tonight’s operation has been a preventive measure.”
Police raided several addresses at 5am this morning, detaining five men - three Danish nationals and two foreigners.
It is not clear whether the five have been charged, or whether they were being detained under counter-terrorism legislation. Early reports suggested that the two foreigners were likely to be deported from Denmark.
Here’s the cartoon. Let the chips fall where they may.

It’s pretty sad that people get so caught up in superstitious BS that they are more than willing to riot and kill over a cartoon of some stupid guy who lived and died over 1,000 years ago. I’m sick to death of hearing about “people of religion” (whether Muslim, Sikh, or Christian) trying to control what the rest of us read, write, draw, think, see, do or say, and I’m especially sick of them demanding special dispensation for their superstitious idiocy. These people must be stopped in their tracks with a good firm slap on the muzzle, and not acquiesed to or given exemptions to laws and rules.
