DNC not to be a DMZ

As a Canadian, I am much more affected by the results of US elections than the other way around. Our politics aren't near as much fun as what goes on in and around the beltway. Anyone who knows me has long since realized that I watch politics like others watch baseball and having said that I am relishing the upcoming match between Hillary and Obama.

The weakness in every despot since the beginning of time has been the surrounding of themselves with flunkies and fools who dare not disagree. This produces reports and decisions made not based on the truth but on what the minions think the boss wants to hear. Such was the case in Hillaryland up to Super Tuesday.

Up to then, the evil Queen was at her smarmy best in her superficial treatment of Obama as a "worthy opponent" and example of the tolerance and openness of the Democratic Party. (note: the same party that refused to pass anti-lynching laws well into the 20th century) The early debates were puffy little things of no substance with little of the venom we all know Hillary is capable of.

Now we all know the Clintons didn't get where they are without a lot of closets full of crap being nailed shut behind them and prior to Obama being seen as an actual candidate every one had resigned themselves to Madam President Wannabe's view of life. The sad thing for Hillary is the fact that half the Democratic party hates her guts and the other half is scared to death of her. This produced a false popularity. Once a real person came up to oppose her, the resigned shuffle through the primaries grew legs in the other direction.

These days the superdelegates don't seem to be the lock they were even a couple of weeks ago and the math is getting tough.  Thusly, the convention may not be the lovefest everyone hoped for and the public will be treated to a family squabble which we all know can get ugly fast.  This is the last thing the Democrats want or need. It does the party no good for Hillary to fight on if Obama is even close to winning because they don't want us to think that Hillary is the maniacal uber control freak we all know she is.  Scaring off the undecided would ensure a Mccain win if Obama was bested. I am sure they are all praying (not that the Democrats still believe in God) that she sees the light.

I doubt if she will. She has been planning the return to the White House for a long time. I think this has been her plan all along. She and Billybob could have stayed fat and happy in Little Rock until the cows came home. The only way for her to be a presidential candidate would be to be a former first lady and that would only happen if Billy could get to the Oval Office. Bill wouldn't care. As long as he could have sex with everything that moves, Bill would live in a crate and we all know it. It was really Hillary who wanted back into the hustle and bustle of  the supposed big time. She is going to fight this tooth and nail right up to the bitter end.

This leaves the Democratic National Committee in quite the squeeze and the pressure is on.

Got to love it.
