Anti-Semitism on the rise in Europe

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

When viewing the history of Europe, one of the dark stains that stands out is its history of persecuting Jews. Pogroms, massacres, and forcing Jews to live in slums have been the hallmark of Europe since the fall of the Roman Empire.

europe_anti_jewish.gifEurope developed a conscience after the Holocaust and anti-Semitic feelings fell. However, anti-Jewish sentiments have been on the rise for decades and have spiked markedly over the past 5 years. Spain has been of particular concern ever since it voted in a left-wing government that is antagonistic towards Israel.

A new Pew Research Center Poll shows the rise in "negative attitude" towards Jews. What the poll does not show is incidents of Jewish persecution. The negative attitude towards Jews is translating into vandalizing Jewish places and attacking Jews.

I created a widget for the left pane that chronicles events of Jewish persecution worldwide. It is free for you to use wherever you wish. I get no gain when anybody uses the widget. It does not link back to my blog or generate any traffic for me.

To place any of my widgets on your blog, click the Get Widget button at the bottom of the widget. The widget offers you a number of ways to place the widget on your blog, MySpace page, FaceBook page, or any type of web page that you might have.

Remember that Jesus was a Jew and that Jews are God's chosen people. Anti-Semitism or, for that matter, any sort of racism has no place in Christianity.

Love for others is one of the fruits of the spirit. If you have trouble loving people who are different from you, then you need to examine your faith and ask God to show you any places in your life that you have not turned over to him. God will answer that prayer. Give him your mind, body, and soul and he will give you love for him, your neighbors, and yourself.

Always keep Psalm 139 -- a psalm of David -- in your heart:

23 Search me, O God, and know my heart!
Try me and know my thoughts!
24 And see if there be any grievous way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting!
