The Obama Effect. I like it.
I have to wonder whether there really has been that radical of a change in the views of Americans on abortion. If there has, and if it really is a backlash against Obama, then does that make Obama the most pro-life president in history?
It was Carter who turned people against creeping socialism, dicey economic policy, and weakness on national defense. Let’s pray that Obama does the same.
I’m not going to declare a victory on the basis of one poll. If the trend holds up, then it’s a tribute to God’s glory in answering prayer.
STATEN ISLAND, NY, May 6 /Christian Newswire/ — Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, commented today on a new Pew Research poll showing significant movement away from support of abortion on demand.
“Since October, the percentage of those who want abortion legal in all or most cases has dropped nine points, while the percentage of those who think abortion should be illegal in all or most cases has risen eight points. That’s an extraordinary turnaround in a relatively short period. The President’s extremism on abortion may well be causing a backlash. The American people simply do not support, and have never supported, abortion on demand. This is a good opportunity for them to solidify their opposition to that extreme policy,” Fr. Pavone concluded.
