Wow. From what has emerged thus far, I was suspecting terrorism, but I was not ready to go public with my suspicions.
People who are a lot smarter than I am allow for the possibility of bad weather causing the crash.
Overall what we know for sure is weather was a factor and the flight definitely crossed through a thunderstorm complex. There is a definite correlation of weather with the crash. However the analysis indicates that the weather is not anything particularly exceptional in terms of instability or storm structure. It’s my opinion that tropical storm complexes identical to this one have probably been crossed hundreds of times over the years by other flights without serious incident.
Complicating the situation is the fact that there were 12 other flights that were on similar routes at the time AF 447 broke apart in mid-air.
Airlines confirmed that at least a dozen aircraft departed roughly at the same time and traversed approximately the same route, but did not
report problematic weather conditions. This has led some aviation experts to
suggest that technical problems on the airplane might be the main cause of the
crash, though they may have combined with weather conditions to create serious
problems.
Worse, two Spanish pilots saw a flash in the sky and something falling downwards in the area where AF 447 went down.
Two pilots of an Air Comet flight from Lima to Lisbon saw a bright flash of light in the area where Flight 447 went down, the Madrid-based airline told CNN. The pilots have turned in their report to authorities.
“Suddenly, we saw in the distance a strong and intense flash of white light, which followed a descending and vertical trajectory and which broke up in six seconds,” the captain wrote in the report.
The flash of light contributes to the theory that an explosion is what brought down Flight 447, which was carrying 228 people from Rio de Janeiro to Paris.
Two passengers with names linked to Islamic terrorism were on the Air France flight which crashed with the loss of 228 lives, it has emerged.
French secret servicemen established the connection while working through the list of those who boarded the doomed Airbus in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on 31 May.
Flight AF447 crashed in the mid-Atlantic en route to Paris during a violent storm.
While it is certain that there were computer malfunctions, terrorism has not been ruled out.
Soon after news of the fatal crash broke, agents working for the DGSE (Direction Générale de la Sécurité Extérieure), the French equivalent of MI6, were dispatched to Brazil.
It was there that they established that two names on the passenger list are also on highly-classified documents listing the names of radical Muslims considered a threat to the French Republic.
A source working for the French security services told Paris weekly L’Express that the link was “highly significant”.
